Our Story

2015

It all began with teaching English to five job seekers for free at a public park in Bangalore. This initiative evolved into a non-profit organization aimed at providing English language training for school and college students.

Here are some memories from those days of volunteering:

2016

We attempted to establish a for-profit language teaching organization, but it didn’t come to fruition as we had hoped.

2019

The idea for Mozhi Academy was conceived in January 2019 and came to life as a side project. Initially, we offered only online training, usually accepting referral students. We were not fully involved yet.

2023

In May, we rented office space to provide classroom training as well, and committed to Mozhi Academy full-time. Here we are today, offering both live and classroom training programmes in IELTS, PTE and Communicative English.

We owe a debt of gratitude to those who have been with us at various points along this journey.

What we believe

Principles that define how we think and teach English.

We are learners, together.

We take a systematic and practical approach to learning and teaching English.

We break English down into simple parts, help you learn them, and then piece everything back together in a way that makes sense.

And we do all of this with you, every step of the way. We consider ourselves learners too, always discovering new aspects of the language and learning alongside you.

We work to inspire.

Anyone can help you speak English. But we don’t want to do just that. We want to go beyond just helping you speak. We strive to ensure correctness, clarity, and quality in your language.

We exist to inspire meaningful change in your language learning journey, and we work relentlessly to make that happen.

The only competition is with yourself.

We believe that anyone can learn anything, at any time. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The journey may take weeks for some and months for others, but you will definitely learn.

If you’ve learned something today that you didn’t know yesterday, you’re on the right path, moving closer to your destination.

Remember, the only competition is with yourself. Don’t compare your learning journey to others, whether it’s English or anything else.

Mistakes are the stepping stones.

Don't worry about the mistakes you make along the way. Mistakes are a sign that you’re learning. Only those who are learning make mistakes. So, don't be discouraged.

Take your time, understand your mistakes, and correct them. Whenever you feel lost, look to us. We are here to guide you.

Translation is not the way.

Translation is not the best way to learn a language. In fact, it often becomes an obstacle, disrupting both learning and fluency. When you translate, you do two things: first, you form a sentence in your native language, and then convert it into English.

So, don’t translate. Express your ideas directly in English. Keep everything simple.

Remember, translation is a separate skill, best developed after achieving proficiency in English.
